HG/T 2409-2023 is a recommended chemical industry standard giving two methods for determining the isocyanate group content of polyurethane prepolymers. The standard applies to manufacturers of polyurethane prepolymers and other interested parties who determine the NCO content of the product or of an intermediate by either of these two routes, and it may equally be used by organisations carrying out research and quality control on this class of material. It supersedes HG/T 2409-1992, was issued on 20 December 2023 and took effect on 1 July 2024.

This standard specifies two methods for the determination of isocyanate group (NCO) content in polyurethane prepolymers or intermediate products: Method A, di-n-butylamine-anhydrous toluene/hydrochloric acid standard titration solution method; Method B, near-infrared spectroscopy.
