Scope
GB/Z 113.34-2025 is the English-translated version of 旋转电机 第34部分:轧机用交流调速电动机.
GB/Z 113.34-2025 is a Chinese national guidance document, identical to IEC TS 60034-34:2020, dealing with AC adjustable speed motors that drive metal rolling mills.
It sets the special performance requirements that separate these induction and synchronous motors from ordinary AC machines: determination of terminal voltage, duty types and temperature rating, continuous and short-time overload capacity, mechanical properties, withstand voltage, factory and site tests, grounding and nameplate data.
Annexes describe typical rolling duty cycles for hot and cold mills, coilers and continuous casting lines, estimation of winding temperature swings within a rolling cycle, insulation life degradation and control system configurations.
Purchasers and manufacturers use it to reach a shared understanding of mill motor applications. It was issued on 3 December 2025.

Foreword
This document is a standard or guiding technical document.
This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting.
This document is Part 34 of GB /Z 113 "Rotating Electrical Machines". GB /Z 113 has the following parts published.
---Part 34: AC speed-regulating motors for rolling mills.
This document is equivalent to IEC TS60034-34:2020 "Rotating electrical machines - Part 34: AC speed-regulating electric motors for rolling mills".
The model has been changed from an IEC technical specification to a national standardization guiding technical document of my country.
The following minimal editorial changes have been made to this document.
---Corrected an error in the international standard, changing 8.1 to 7.11;
---Corrected the error in the drawing numbering of the international standard.
Introduction
DC motors used in rolling mills have a glorious history of 100 years. These motors used in metal rolling mills were manufactured according to the standards of National Electric Manufacturing Corporation (NEC). It is manufactured to NEMA (National Association of Manufacturers) standards.
On the one hand, with the advancement of semiconductor devices and microprocessor technology, the development of control technology has enabled the use of AC speed-regulating motors for rolling mills (1)
Both induction motors and synchronous motors have entered the practical application stage.
On the other hand, the structure and characteristics of AC motors are very different from those of DC motors. Therefore, for AC speed-regulating rolling mills... Regarding the application of motors, both the purchaser and the manufacturer need to have a shared understanding. This document contains practical applications of DC and AC rolling mill motors. Experience in various technical aspects of application.
This document introduces the concept of field weakening control for AC speed-regulating rolling mill motors and its application in overload operation, and uses this information to determine the working... The voltage used in the factory test.
This document defines different types of overload conditions and various overload types. It discusses the effects of overload on the motor when operating beyond its design capacity. The lifespan of the machine insulation may be affected.
This document also sets forth the requirements for determining the speed regulation operation of an electric motor under specified conditions.
Rolling loads, defined for a variety of application conditions, are a specific supplement to the duty classification in IEC 60034-1. GB /Z 113 is proposed to consist of one part.
---Part 34: AC Speed-Regulating Motors for Rolling Mills. The purpose is to clarify that AC speed-regulating rolling mill motors differ from traditional AC motors. Special requirements for the performance characteristics of the engine.
1 Scope
This document specifies the special requirements for the performance characteristics of AC speed-regulating rolling mill motors, which differ from those of traditional AC motors.
