Scope

GB/T 8038-2023 is the English-translated version of 焦化甲苯 烃类杂质含量的测定 气相色谱法.

GB/T 8038-2023 is the Chinese gas chromatographic method for the hydrocarbon impurities in coking toluene.

It runs through sampling, principle, reagents, instruments and materials, preparation, test steps, calculation of results and precision, and carries two quantification routes: an internal standard method using n-decane of not less than 99% purity by mass, with hydrogen flame ionization detection and relative correction factors, and an area normalization method added in this edition.

Clause 1 covers benzene, C8 aromatics and the non-aromatic hydrocarbons up to n-nonane, and puts the measuring range of the area normalization method at 0.002% to 1.60% by mass for each impurity.

The sample taken is not less than 1000 mL. It replaces GB/T 8038-2009, was issued on 7 September 2023 and has applied since 1 January 2024.

Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting.

This document replaces GB/T 8038-2009 "Gas Chromatography Method for Determination of Hydrocarbon Impurities in Coked Toluene" and is consistent with GB/T 8038-2009 In comparison, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical content changes are as follows.

a) Changed the scope content (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the 2009 edition);

b) The requirements for the stationary phase of the internal standard method have been changed (see 5.2.9.1, 5.4.1 of the 2009 edition);

c) The requirements for internal standard method chromatographic columns have been changed (see 5.3.1.5, 6.1.5 of the 2009 edition);

d) Added requirements for material nitrogen (see 5.3.2.3);

e) The standard sieve requirement is deleted (see 6.2.3 of the 2009 version);

f) The calculation formula of the correction factor has been changed (see 5.4.2.3, 7.4.3 of the 2009 version);

g) Increase the typical retention time of each component of FFAP (see Table 3 in 5.4.3.2);

h) Added area normalization method (see Chapter 6);

i) Changed precision requirements (see Chapter 7, Chapter 10 of the 2009 edition).

1 Scope

This document specifies the sampling, principles, reagents, instruments and materials, preparations, and tests for the gas chromatographic determination of hydrocarbon impurities in coked toluene. Test steps, result calculation, precision.

This document is applicable to the determination of hydrocarbon impurities in coked toluene, including benzene, C8 aromatics and non-aromatic hydrocarbons up to n-nonane. Internal standard method for each group The measurement range (mass fraction) of impurities is 0.01%~0.03%; the measurement range (mass fraction) of each group of impurities by area normalization method is 0.002%~1.60%.

2 Normative reference documents

The contents of the following documents constitute essential provisions of this document through normative references in the text. Among them, the dated quotations For undated referenced documents, only the version corresponding to that date applies to this document; for undated referenced documents, the latest version (including all amendments) applies to this document.

3 Terms and definitions

There are no terms or definitions to be defined in this document.

4 Samples

According to the provisions of GB/T 1999, a representative sample of no less than 1000mL is randomly taken from a large amount of materials.

5 Method 1 Internal Standard Method

5.1 Principle

Add a known amount of internal standard substance to the sample, use a syringe to take a certain amount of the mixture and inject it into the vaporization chamber of the chromatograph, and the vaporized mixture is The carrier gas is carried into the column chromatography, and each component flowing out is detected by a hydrogen flame ionization detector, and the chromatogram is recorded on the recorder.

The relative retention time of the impurity is used for qualitative identification, and the chromatographic peak area of the impurity relative to the internal standard is used for quantification.

The relative correction factors of the detector for each component should be taken into account when calculating.

5.2 Reagents

Unless otherwise stated, use only analytically pure reagents.

5.2.1 n-hexane. chromatographically pure (does not contain benzene, n-decane and ethylbenzene).

5.2.2 Internal standard substance. n-decane, purity not less than 99% (mass fraction).
