Scope

GB/T 6609.6-2018 is the English-translated version of 氧化铝化学分析方法和物理性能测定方法 第6部分:氧化钾含量的测定.

GB/T 6609.6-2018 is Part 6 of the Chinese national series of chemical analysis and physical test methods for alumina, and covers the determination of potassium oxide.

It gives two methods: flame photometry, for contents from 0.002% to 0.12%, and flame atomic absorption spectrometry, for contents from 0.002% to 0.20%.

In the flame photometric method the sample is sintered with boric acid and starch so that potassium turns into borate, the leachate is separated from the insoluble matter and n-butanol is added as a sensitiser before reading against a working curve made with potassium oxide and sodium oxide standard solutions.

Compared with the 2004 edition it adds the atomic absorption method and a rule on arbitration. It replaces GB/T 6609.6-2004, was issued on 14 May 2018 and has applied since 1 February 2019.

This part replaces GB/T 6609.6-2004 "Alumina chemical analysis method and physical property determination method. Flame photometric method for the determination of oxygen Potassium content. Compared with GB/T 6609.6-2004, this section is subject to the following editorial changes.

--- Added provisions for reagent purity and test water (see 2.2);

--- Revised the expression of the calculation formula (see 2.6, 2004 version 7);

--- Revised the repetitive limit (see 2.7.1, 2004 version 8.1);

--- Added Method 2. Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (see Chapter 3);

--- Added provisions for arbitration methods (see Chapter 3).

1 Scope

This part of GB/T 6609 specifies the method for determining the content of potassium oxide in alumina.

This section applies to the determination of potassium oxide content in alumina. Method 1 Determination range. 0.002%~0.12%; Method 2 Determination range. 0.002%~0.20%.

2 Method 1. Flame photometry

2.1 Principle of the method

After the sample is sintered at a high temperature with boric acid and starch, potassium is converted into borate, and after leaching with water, the insoluble matter is separated. Add n-butanol for sensitization For the determination of potassium oxide content by flame photometry.

2.2 Reagents and materials

Unless otherwise stated, only reagents and secondary waters identified as superior grades were used in the analysis.

2.2.1 Boric acid.

2.2.2 Potassium chloride. The reference potassium chloride is placed in platinum rhodium (2.3.1), fired at 500 ° C for 2 h, placed in a desiccator (2.3.4), and cooled to Room temperature.

2.2.3 Sodium chloride. The reference sodium chloride is placed in platinum rhodium (2.3.1), fired at 500 ° C for 2 h, placed in a desiccator (2.3.4), and cooled to Room temperature.

2.2.4 Starch. If the blank value is high, it is repeatedly washed and purified by water with a pouring method, then washed twice with absolute ethanol to dry, and then finely ground for use.

2.2.5 Hydrochloric acid (1 19).

2.2.6 Boric acid solution (29g/L).

2.2.7 n-butanol. 500mL n-butanol was placed in a 1000mL separatory funnel, 150mL water was added, shaken for 3min, layered, discarded Go to the water phase. It was extracted twice with water (about 75 mL each time).

2.2.8 Potassium oxide standard storage solution. Weigh 0.1583g of potassium chloride (2.2.2) dissolved in water, transferred to 1000mL volumetric flask, diluted with water Release to the scale, mix and store in a polyethylene bottle. 1 mL of this solution contained 0.1 mg of potassium oxide.

2.2.9 Sodium oxide standard storage solution. Weigh 1.8859g sodium chloride (2.2.3) dissolved in water, transferred to 1000mL volumetric flask, diluted with water Release to the scale, mix and store in a polyethylene bottle. 1 mL of this solution contained 1 mg of sodium oxide.

2.2.10 Potassium Oxide Standard Solution. Pipette 25.00 mL of potassium oxide standard stock solution (2.2.8) into a 100 mL volumetric flask. Press again Add the ratio of sodium oxide to potassium oxide in the sample, add the standard storage solution of sodium oxide (2.2.9), dilute to the mark with water, and mix. This solution 1 mL contains 0.025 mg of potassium oxide. Available when used.

2.2.11 Working curve solution. In a set of 100mL volumetric flask, add potassium oxide standard solution (2.2.10) according to Table 1, add 30mL boron Acid solution (2.2.6), 7mL n-butanol (2.2.7), add water to about 95mL, shake, so that n-butanol is completely miscible, diluted with water to the mark, Mix well.
