Scope
GB/T 24487-2022 is the English-translated version of 氧化铝.
GB/T 24487-2022 is the Chinese national standard for alumina.
It gives the technical requirements - the grades and the limits on Al2O3, silica, iron oxide, soda and loss on ignition, together with the physical properties such as particle size, attrition index and specific surface that decide how the powder behaves in a cell - the test methods, the inspection rules, the provisions on marking, packaging, transport and storage, the quality certificate and what an order or contract has to state.
It applies to the alumina made from bauxite and from recycled alumina raw materials for the smelting of aluminium, and to the alumina used to make corundum, ceramics, refractories and alumina chemicals.
Refineries, smelters and their customers use it. It replaces GB/T 24487-2009, was issued on 9 March 2022 and has applied since 1 October 2022.
