Scope

GB/T 5143-2026 is the English-translated version of 工业车辆护顶架技术要求和试验方法.

Specification and testing of overhead guards for industrial trucks are the topic of this recommended national standard. An overhead guard protects the operator of a forklift or similar truck from falling objects, so its requirements and test procedures are important to safety. It adopts an international standard.

Industrial truck manufacturers, guard and component suppliers, test laboratories, safety engineers and fleet operators will use it. It replaces GB/T 5143-2008, so design files and test reports that cite the earlier edition should be revised.

As a GB/T document it is recommended rather than mandatory, although manufacturers selling trucks in China commonly design and test their guards against such documents to demonstrate sound practice. It was issued on 30 July 2026 under the responsibility of the China Machinery Industry Federation and takes effect on 1 February 2027.

GB/T 5143-2026 is a recommended national standard (GB/T) of the People's Republic of China, issued on 30 July 2026 by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China, with effect from 1 February 2027.

This edition replaces GB/T 5143-2008.
