Foreword

This document was issued on 12 November 2024 by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the PRC and the State Administration for Market Regulation and takes effect on 1 September 2025.

It is a GB/T standard: recommended rather than compulsory, but it is the text a Chinese reviewer applies.

This standard was approved by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the PRC under Announcement No. 197 of 2024 and takes effect on 1 September 2025.

It replaces the former national standard "Code of measurement of ancillary structure works" GB/T 50860-2013. The main revisions are: the project characteristics of some bill items were revised and content unrelated to the design documents was deleted; the units of measurement and the measurement rules of some bill items were revised; the work content of some bill items was revised to reflect the principal construction operations; reinforcement work was brought into the bill of quantities for work sections and trades, and cast-in-situ and precast concrete members were listed separately; and the measurement rules for the preliminaries were revised.

It was drafted by the China Construction Cost Management Association together with the Standards and Quotas Research Institute of MOHURD and other organisations.

1 Scope

GB/T 50860-2024 is the Chinese national standard for measuring quantities in ancillary structure works, one of the family of measurement standards that governs how a Chinese construction contract is priced. Ancillary structures are the built objects nobody works inside: pools and tanks, silos and warehouses, water towers, mechanical and hyperbolic natural draught cooling towers, chimneys and flues, industrial tunnels, channels and trenches, prilling towers, conveying trestles, manholes and lift towers. Each of them is given, in the appendices, a full schedule of bill items with the project code, the project characteristics that have to be stated, the unit of measurement, the measurement rule and the work content included in the item, for concrete structures in Appendix A and for masonry structures in Appendix B, with the preliminaries in Appendix C. The body of the standard sets the general provisions, the terms, the rules for the measurement of quantities and the preparation of the bill of quantities. The 2024 edition replaces GB/T 50860-2013, which is superseded; among its changes, reinforcement work now enters the bill of quantities for work sections and trades and cast-in-situ and precast concrete members are listed separately. It applies to measurement and bill preparation during the tendering and execution of ancillary structure works.
