Scope
GB/T 4971-2009 is the English-translated version of 汽车平顺性术语和定义.
GB/T 4971-2009 fixes the terms and definitions in common use for automotive ride comfort. Clause 1 applies it to the design, testing and research of car ride comfort.
The definitions sit in clause 2 and are grouped by subject: basic terms, types of vehicle vibration, types of human body vibration, types of vibration process, test methods, evaluation methods and other terms.
Among the basic terms, comfort is treated as covering ride comfort, noise inside the car, air conditioning performance (temperature, humidity, air flow and the like), the riding environment (activity space, interior equipment, layout, trim, pedal height, the width of doors and passages) and driving performance (the ease of the driving operation, the legibility of instruments and signalling equipment), while ride comfort itself is defined through the avoidance of the vibration and shock of driving that makes people uncomfortable or tired, harms health or spoils the goods carried.
The vibration entries name linear vibration along each of the car X, Y and Z axes and angular vibration about each of them, the matching directions for the human body, the vibration of single parts of the body through handles, pedals, steering wheel, occupant armrests and headrests as against the vibration reaching the whole body through floor and seat, and the difference between vibration continuing without interruption for a period and a series of short vibration events separated by vibration of small amplitude.
One entry defines the supporting surface as the contact surface between the human body and the vehicle body, on which the origin of the basic body coordinate system and the test measuring point both lie.
The test method entries distinguish a run over bumps or pits from a run on randomly uneven road, and the evaluation entries cover judgement by the subjective feeling of the assessor, evaluation from measured vibration displacement, velocity and acceleration, the root mean square of weighted acceleration, the use of acceleration peaks, and the vibration dose value, which responds more sharply to changes in the peaks than the ordinary root mean square method; the last group defines effects such as the nausea and vomiting caused by vibration below 1 Hz and the ratio between the peak of the weighted acceleration time history and its root mean square value.
It replaces GB/T 4971-1985, was issued on 2009-10-30 and has applied since 2010-07-01.

1 Scope
This standard specifies common terms and terms in terms of car ride comfort.
This standard applies to car ride comfort design, testing and research.
2 Terms and definitions
2.1 Basic terms and definitions
2.1.1
It provides passengers with a comfortable and pleasant riding environment and convenient operating conditions. Comfort includes.
a) Ride comfort;
b) Noise in the car;
c) Air conditioning performance (temperature, humidity, air flow, etc.);
d) Riding environment (activity space, internal equipment, layout, decoration, height of pedals, width of doors and passages, etc.);
e) Driving performance (portability of driving operation, legibility of instruments and signal equipment, etc.).
2.1.2
Avoid the vibration and impact generated by the car during the driving process that make people feel uncomfortable, fatigue, or even damage health, or damage the goods performance.
Note: Ride comfort is one of the main contents of comfort.
2.2 Types of vehicle vibration
2.2.1 A straight line vibration along the car's X axis (see Figure 1).
2.2.2 A straight line vibration in the direction of the car's Y axis (see Figure 1).
2.2.3 Straight line vibration in the direction of the car's Z axis (see Figure 1).
2.2.4 Angular vibration around the car's X axis (see Figure 1).
2.2.5 Angular vibration around the car's Y axis (see Figure 1).
2.2.6 Angular vibration around the car's Z axis (see Figure 1).
2.3 Types of human body vibration
2.3.1 Vibrate in a straight line along the front and back direction of the human body (see X direction in Figure 2).
2.3.2 Vibrate in a straight line along the left and right directions of the human body (see Figure 2 Y direction).
2.3.3 Vibrate in a straight line along the direction of the human spine (see Figure 2Z).
2.3.4 Angular vibration around the X axis of the human body (see Figure 2)
2.3.5 Angular vibration around the Y axis of the human body (see Figure 2)
2.3.6 Angular vibration around the Z axis of the human body (see Figure 2)
2.3.7 Vibrations of individual parts of the human body are acted on by the handles, pedals, steering wheels, occupant armrests and headrests of the operating mechanism.
2.3.8 Vibration transmitted to the entire human body through the floor and seat
2.4 Types of vibration process
2.4.1 Uninterrupted vibration for a certain period of time
2.4.2 A series of vibration events, each vibration lasts a short time, and these vibrations are separated by other vibrations with small amplitude.
2.5.4
The contact surface of the human body and the vehicle body, the origin of the basic coordinate system of the human body and the test measurement point are all located on the supporting surface.
2.6 Test method
2.6.1 The ride comfort test of a car driving over bumps or pits.
2.6.2 Ride comfort test when a car is driving on random uneven roads.
2.7 Evaluation method
2.7.1 The evaluation depends on the subjective feeling of the evaluator.
2.7.2 Evaluate based on the measured vibration displacement, velocity, acceleration and other physical quantities.
2.7.3 A method of evaluating the root mean square value of the weighted acceleration.
2.7.4 A method of evaluation using acceleration peaks.
2.7.5 The method of evaluating the vibration dose value. This method is more sensitive to changes in vibration peaks than ordinary root-mean-square evaluation methods.
2.8 Other nouns
2.8.1
Pathological phenomena such as nausea and vomiting caused by vibration below 1 Hz.
2.8.2
The ratio of the peak value of the weighted acceleration time history to the root mean square value of the weighted acceleration.
