Scope

GB/T 45939-2025 is the English-translated version of 光伏组件封装用共挤胶膜.

GB/T 45939-2025 covers the co-extruded film used to encapsulate photovoltaic modules, made from ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and polyolefin elastomer resins with additives, melt-extruded and co-cast into a multi-layer film.

It defines the terms, among them co-extrusion film and surface density, and sets the requirements for appearance, for specifications and their deviations and for physical properties.

It describes the test methods, with the sampling method, the test conditions, the appearance inspection and the determination of specifications, deviations and physical properties, and it gives the inspection categories and items and the packaging, marking, transport and storage.

It applies to films for crystalline silicon module encapsulation and is used as a reference for thin-film modules. It was issued on 1 August 2025 and has applied since 1 November 2025.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Co-extrusion film

Ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) resin and polyolefin elastomer (POE) resin are used as two main raw materials, and multiple The additives are melt-extruded, compounded and co-cast to form a packaging film with a multi-layer structure.

Note: Polyolefin elastomers mainly refer to copolymers of ethylene and alpha-olefins (1-butene, 1-hexene, 1-octene, etc.).

3.2 Surface density

The mass per unit area of co-extruded film.

Note 1: Also known as gram weight.

Note 2: The unit is grams per square meter (g/m2).
