1 Scope

GB/T 45334-2025 is the Chinese technical specification for making air conditioners usable by older people. China is ageing faster than any large country has, and a series of standards is being written to make ordinary appliances workable for people with reduced sight, hearing, dexterity and memory; this is the one for air conditioning. It sets the requirements on the interface: the size and contrast of the display, the size, spacing and tactile feedback of the controls, the volume and pitch of the audible feedback, the simplification of the operating logic and the limitation of the number of steps, the voice interaction where it is provided, and the wording of the instructions. It also covers the comfort and safety requirements that matter more for older users, the control of draughts and of temperature swing, the behaviour after a power interruption, and the fault and reminder functions, together with the corresponding test methods. For an appliance maker selling into China, this is the specification an age-friendly claim is judged against.

This document specifies the technical requirements, test methods and evaluation rules for intelligent aging-friendly air-conditioning products. This document is applicable to the design and evaluation of intelligent aging-friendly functions of air-conditioning products.
