GB/T 44963-2024 is the Chinese national standard covering keeping the water in stored rice, wheat and maize instead of losing it to the drying that shrinks the tonnage — the warehouse and its facilities, the mechanical ventilation, the grain condition monitoring and the coolers and air conditioning that hold the temperature down, the storage practice and the management around it, and the grain that is only conditionally safe because its moisture sits above the safe line. First edition, under the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration. In force from 1 June 2025. Issued on 28 November 2024, it has been in force since 1 June 2025.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1

Technical measures taken to reduce grain moisture loss during grain storage.

3.2

Food that can be safely stored at low temperatures and can be stored for a short period of time at local room temperature but cannot safely survive the summer.

Note. Generally refers to grains whose moisture content is within 1 percentage point higher than the safe storage moisture content.

4 Basic Requirements

4.1 Warehouse and facility requirements

4.1.1 The warehouse shall comply with the basic requirements for granaries in GB/T 29890.

4.1.2 The design and layout of the mechanical ventilation system shall comply with the relevant requirements of LS/T 1202.

4.1.3 The layout and equipment performance of the grain condition detection system shall comply with the relevant requirements of GB/T 26882.1.

4.1.4 The type and performance parameters of grain coolers shall comply with the relevant requirements of GB/T 18835.

4.1.5 The type and performance parameters of air conditioners shall comply with the relevant requirements of GB/T 20108.
