Scope
GB/T 44208-2024 is the English-translated version of 馆藏文物病害描述及图示基础要素.
GB/T 44208-2024 fixes the basic elements for describing and illustrating the deterioration of cultural relics in museum collections. Chinese conservation practice calls the deterioration of an object its disease, and every condition report records it in words and in a marked-up diagram; until the vocabulary and the graphic conventions are fixed, two conservators recording the same bronze produce documents that cannot be compared, and the national collection survey cannot be aggregated. The standard sets the basic elements of the written description of deterioration and the basic elements of the illustration - the content of the elements, the borders and legend of the diagram, and the drawing of the diagram itself - with an informative annex giving worked examples of the diagram elements for museum collections. It took effect on 1 November 2024.
