1 Scope

GB/T 44201-2024 is the Chinese standard for ultra-thin glass cutting machines. Ultra-thin glass, the sub-millimetre substrate used for display panels, touch sensors and cover glass, is cut in enormous volumes in China, and the cutting is the step where yield is won or lost: the score must be placed within microns, the edge produced determines the strength of the finished part, and the sheet is flexible enough that handling itself can break it. The standard sets the types and basic parameters, then the technical requirements: the positioning and repeatability accuracy of the axes, the cutting quality in terms of score depth, edge chipping and break accuracy, the requirements on the cutting head, the table and the sheet support and handling, the control system, the electrical and pneumatic systems, the cleanliness, the safety and the reliability. It then gives the test methods for each, the inspection rules and the marking, packaging, transport and storage. It takes effect on 1 February 2025.
