Scope

GB/T 43928-2024 is the English-translated version of 宇航用商业现货(COTS)器件保证指南.

GB/T 43928-2024 is the Chinese guide to assuring commercial off-the-shelf parts for space use. It addresses a change the whole industry has made under commercial pressure: space-qualified parts are years behind and orders of magnitude more expensive than commercial ones, so constellations are built with COTS silicon, and the assurance that used to come from the part's qualification has to be recreated by the user. The guide sets out how. It covers the selection of candidate parts and of their suppliers, the assessment of the manufacturer's process control and of lot traceability, the procurement in single lots and the retention of samples, the radiation characterisation for total dose, displacement damage and single event effects with the test methods and the lot sampling required, the screening and burn-in, the destructive physical analysis, the qualification for the mission environment, the derating and the application-level mitigation of the residual risk, and the documentation and configuration control of the whole. It took effect on 1 August 2024.
