Scope

GB/T 43372-2023 is the English-translated version of 空间数据与信息传输系统 深空光通信物理层.

GB/T 43372-2023 describes the physical layer of optical communication between a deep space probe and the ground.

Clause 1 covers the functions of that physical layer, the downlink signal characteristics, the uplink beacon and optional data transmission signal characteristics and the management parameters, and the contents list breaks the downlink signal into centre frequency and its tolerance, laser linewidth, in-band and out-of-band radiation, polarization, modulation, slot width, time jitter and pulse repetition rate.

Clause 1 states that it applies to high photon efficiency links in air-to-ground and ground-to-space scenarios transmitted through atmospheric channels in deep space laser communication, other applications using it for reference.

Its introduction states that the document is limited to the deep-space-to-ground scenario and may be extended later. Issued on 27 November 2023, it has applied since 1 March 2024.

3 Terms and definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 42041 and the following apply to this document.

3.1 Center frequency

The center corresponds to the frequency in the frequency range contained by the laser beam.

3.2 Laser line widthlaserline-width

The spectral line width of a laser beam.

3.3

The ratio of optical power between two orthogonally polarized components decomposed along the direction of the main polarization state.

3.4 Pulse repetition rate

The number of light pulses emitted per second, or defined as the reciprocal of the pulse repetition period.

3.5 right-handed circularly polarized light

Relative to the transmission direction, the direction of the electric field vector changes with time and is right-handed circularly polarized light.

3.6 Out-of-band radiation spiloveremissions

The amount of light energy in a beam spectrum that is outside a defined spectral width.
