Scope
GB/T 43328-2023 is the English-translated version of 浮空器术语.
GB/T 43328-2023 is the Chinese national vocabulary for aerostats, the aircraft that get their lift from a gas lighter than air.
Clause 3 groups the general terms into basic concepts, structural components, equipment systems, materials, airbag technology, performance, testing, ground facilities and operation, defining aerostat, tethered balloon, free balloon, airship and lifting gas, and the leakage measured as the volume of lifting gas lost in 24 hours at zero altitude under standard atmospheric conditions; clauses 4, 5 and 6 then add the terms specific to tethered balloons, including their mooring facilities, to free balloons and to airships.
The document states that it has no normative references and that it applies to tethered balloons, free balloons and airships. It closes with a bibliography and an index. Issued on 27 November 2023, it has applied since 1 June 2024.

Foreword
This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting.
1 Scope
This document defines the general terms for aerostats and the specific terms and definitions for tethered balloons, free balloons, and airships.
This document applies to aerostats such as tethered balloons, free balloons and airships.
2 Normative reference documents
This document has no normative references.
3 Common terms
3.1 Basic concepts
3.1.1 Aerostat
An aircraft that mainly relies on lighter-than-air gas to generate buoyancy (static lift) to overcome its own gravity.
Note 1. Aerostats are divided into airships (3.1.4) and balloons according to whether they have power propulsion or not.
Note 2. Balloons are divided into tethered balloons (3.1.2) and free balloons (3.1.3) according to whether they are restrained by tethered cables (4.2.3) after liftoff. [Source: GB/T 38060-2019, 3.1.1, with modifications]
3.1.2 tethered balloon
tetheredaerostat; tetheredbaloon Aerostat with cable restraints (3.1.1).
Note: A tethered balloon usually consists of a tethered balloon sphere (4.2.1), a tethered cable (4.2.3) and an anchoring device (4.3.1).
3.1.3 Free balloon
freebaloon An aerostat with no power propulsion, no cable constraints, and free flight (3.1.1).
Note: Free balloons can be divided into overpressure balloons (5.1.2) and zero-pressure balloons according to whether there is overpressure (3.1.16) in the airbag (3.2.1) at the designed working height (3.6.1). (5.1.1).
3.1.4 Airship
Aerostat with powered propulsion and controllable motion (3.1.1).
3.1.5 Lifting gas
The gas filled in the air bag (3.2.1) of the aerostat (3.1.1) and having a density smaller than the ambient air outside the air bag (3.2.1).
Note: Modern tethered balloons (3.1.2) and airships (3.1.4) usually use helium as the levitation gas, and some aerostats (3.1.1) use hydrogen or hot air as the levitation gas. Lifting gas.
3.1.6
The volume of buoyancy gas leaked from the aerostat (3.1.1) in 24 hours under standard atmospheric conditions at zero altitude.
