Scope
GB/T 43309-2023 is the English-translated version of 玻璃纤维及原料化学元素的测定 X射线荧光光谱法.
GB/T 43309-2023 is the Chinese national X-ray fluorescence method for the chemical elements of glass fibre, fibre glass and their raw and batch materials, of mineral wool and its raw materials, and of other glass and mineral raw materials of similar composition.
Samples are fused with a lithium tetraborate and lithium metaborate flux, mixed 67:33 or 66:34 and calcined at 700 °C for at least 10 h, into glass beads that are irradiated and read against a standard working curve.
The document covers sample preparation for fibre and for glass, mineral and batch materials, bead making, the drawing of the curve with its background, line-overlap and drift corrections and regression analysis, the measurement, the calculation and the test report, with appendices on commercial reference materials and pure substances. Issued on 27 November 2023, it has applied since 1 June 2024.

Foreword
This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting.
1 Scope
This document describes a method for the determination of chemical elements in glass fibers and their raw materials by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry.
This document is applicable to the measurement of chemical elements of various types of glass fiber, fiber glass and its raw materials and batch materials, and various types of mineral wool and its raw materials.
It is also suitable for the determination of chemical elements of other glass and mineral raw materials with similar chemical element composition.
2 Normative reference documents
The contents of the following documents constitute essential provisions of this document through normative references in the text. Among them, the dated quotations For undated referenced documents, only the version corresponding to that date applies to this document; for undated referenced documents, the latest version (including all amendments) applies to this document.

3 Terms and definitions
There are no terms or definitions to be defined in this document.
4 Principles
The sample is melted with a mixed flux of lithium tetraborate and lithium metaborate to prepare a glass sample. The glass sample is irradiated with primary X-rays to excite and produce
X-ray fluorescence, the wavelength and intensity of X-ray fluorescence have a one-to-one correspondence with the chemical elements in the glass sample and their mass fraction. Pass
By measuring the wavelength and intensity of the X-ray fluorescence excited by the glass sample and comparing it with the standard working curve obtained from the standard glass sample, we get to the mass fraction of chemical elements in the glass sample.
5 Reagents and instruments
5.3 Mix the flux, lithium tetraborate. lithium metaborate = 67.33 or 66.34, weigh 335g or 330g lithium tetraborate (5.1) and 165g Or grind 170g lithium metaborate (5.2) in an agate mortar (5.9) and mix evenly, transfer to a porcelain evaporating dish (5.10) and place in a 700°C muffle furnace (5.19)
Medium burning for no less than 10 hours, or use a commercially available mixed flux.
5.4 Water, not less than the first-level water requirements in GB/T 6682.
5.5 Ammonium iodide, analytically pure, mass fraction not less than 99%
5.2 Lithium metaborate (LiBO2), superior grade pure, solid
5.1 Lithium tetraborate (Li2B4O7), superior grade pure, solid
