Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting.

1 Scope

This document describes a high-performance liquid chromatography method for the determination of aldehydes and ketones in furniture products and their materials.

This document is applicable to the determination of aldehydes and ketones released from furniture products and their raw materials.

2 Normative reference documents

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Aldehyde sand ketones

All carbonyl-containing volatile organic compounds released from furniture samples and detected in the air from the sampling port of the climate chamber.

Note: Aldehyde and ketone compounds include but are not limited to formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acrolein, acetone, benzaldehyde, butyraldehyde, n-valeraldehyde, 2,5-dimethylbenzaldehyde, crotonaldehyde, isopentyl aldehyde Aldehyde, propionaldehyde, hexanal, o-toluene formaldehyde, p-toluene formaldehyde, m-toluene formaldehyde, etc.

4 Principles

Simulate the load-bearing state of furniture, and place the specimen in the air under certain conditions (temperature, relative humidity and air flow rate) according to the specified load-bearing rate.

In the waiting cabin, the aldehyde and ketone compounds released by the furniture samples are mixed with the air entering the climate cabin and discharged from the cabin exit, using the adsorbent 2,4-bis Nitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH) captures aldehyde and ketone compounds in a certain volume of gas at the exit of the climate chamber, and uses analytical instruments to measure them.

The release concentration of captured aldehyde and ketone compounds is calculated according to the release concentration, product loading rate and gas exchange rate of aldehyde and ketone compounds in furniture samples. release rate.

The DNPH sampling tube actively collects a certain volume of climate cabin outlet air. The components of aldehyde and ketone compounds in the outlet air are related to the sampling tube.

The DNPH reaction generates a stable derivative compound 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone. After elution with acetonitrile, it is separated by a reversed-phase liquid chromatography column equipped with UV Detector or secondary array tube detector, high performance liquid chromatography, and external standard method for quantification. See Figure 1 for a schematic diagram.
