Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules for Standardization Documents" drafting.

This document is part 1 of GB/T 42629 "International Regulations for Environmental Investigation of Seabed Areas and High Seas". GB/T 42629 has been issued the following sections.

--- Part 1. General;

--- Part 2. Marine chemical survey;

--- Part 3. Marine Biological Survey;

--- Part 4. Survey of physical properties of marine sediments.

Introduction

In order to fully implement the "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Exploration and Exploitation of Resources in Deep Seabed Areas" and abide by the relevant regulations of the International Seabed Authority and The requirements of environmental guidelines guide Chinese contractors to effectively implement polymetallic nodules, cobalt-rich crusts and polymetallic sulphide resources in deep seabed areas.

Environmental investigation obligations for resource exploration and development, compiled a series of regulations GB/T 42629 "International Seabed Areas and High Seas Environmental Investigation Regulations", so that my country's environmental investigation techniques and methods in international seabed areas and high seas are in line with international standards, and it is for Chinese contractors to fulfill their environmental investigation obligations and carry out environmental investigations.

Provide technical support for high seas environmental survey. GB/T 42629 aims to establish the content generally applicable to the international seabed area and high seas environmental investigation.

Content, procedures and common requirements, it is proposed to be composed of 4 parts.

--- Part 1. General. The purpose is to establish the international seabed area and the high seas marine chemistry, marine biology, marine sediment Procedures and general requirements for marine environment surveys such as physical properties and physical oceanography.

--- Part 2. Marine chemical survey. The purpose is to standardize the content and analysis methods of marine chemical surveys.

--- Part 3. Marine biological survey. The purpose is to standardize the content, methods and technical requirements of marine biological surveys.

--- Part 4. Survey of physical properties of marine sediments. The purpose is to standardize the survey contents, methods and techniques of physical characteristics of marine sediments. technical requirements.

This document is Part 1 of GB/T 42629, which specifies the common requirements of Part 2~Part 4, so this document is compatible with other parts Use in combination.

1 Scope

This document stipulates the content and requirements of marine environmental surveys in international seabed areas and high seas, and the configuration of survey ships and major instruments and equipment. basic requirements in terms of setting, survey procedures and quality control, offshore site surveys, indoor sample analysis, data processing and report writing.

This document applies to international environmental surveys of seabed areas and the high seas, other than polar oceans.
