Scope
GB/T 42489-2023 is the English-translated version of 土壤质量 决策单元-多点增量采样法.
This document establishes the basic principles and the work flow of the decision unit multi-increment sampling method for soil, and specifies the technical methods for identifying the contamination, preparing the sampling plan, sampling in the field, sub-sampling and analysing in the laboratory, assessing the quality of the data and assessing the soil contamination.
The document applies to soil contamination investigation at field or plot scale on agricultural land and on construction land, and to the monitoring and impact evaluation of soil remediation and risk control.
It does not apply to sampling for radioactive or biological contamination of soil.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Soil pollution soil contamination
The average content of any pollutant in a certain area or volume of soil exceeds the soil background content or soil pollution risk control standards standard value.
3.2 Comprehensive conceptual model
Comprehensively describe the soil type, geology, hydrogeology and other natural conditions of the surveyed area in the form of text, graphs, tables, etc., as well as pollution sources and Models for overall conditions such as drug migration characteristics, receptor exposure pathways, etc.
3.3 Decision unit
A 3D soil sampling unit delineated by a comprehensive conceptual model of soil pollution and survey accuracy requirements.
Note: Based on the overall average content of soil pollutants in the sampling unit, the degree and scope of potential environmental hazards and risks to human health and the environment are judged, and subsequent decisions are made.
