Scope
GB/T 42291-2022 is the English-translated version of 压水堆核电厂控制区门窗辐射防护设计准则.
GB/T 42291-2022 is the Chinese national standard that sets the functional requirements and the design criteria for the radiation protection given by doors and windows in the controlled area of a pressurized water reactor nuclear power plant.
Besides its general clause it has one clause on the radiation protection requirements and one on the radiation protection design of the doors and windows, with three informative appendices: a decision process for the design of controlled-area gates, the conditions for judging whether door airtightness applies, and target values for the external exposure dose rate in a radiation zone.
It defines controlled area, supervised area and airtightness, and clause 1 lets other kinds of nuclear power plant use it as a reference. Among the standards it quotes are GB 18871 and NB/T 20194-2012. Issued on 30 December 2022, applicable since 1 July 2023.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules for Standardization Documents" drafting.
1 Scope
This document specifies the functional requirements and design criteria for the radiation protection of windows and doors in the control area of a PWR nuclear power plant.
This document is applicable to the radiation protection design of doors and windows in the control area of pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants, and other types of nuclear power plants shall be implemented as a reference.
2 Normative references
The contents of the following documents constitute the essential provisions of this document through normative references in the text. Among them, dated references For documents, only the version corresponding to the date is applicable to this document; for undated reference documents, the latest version (including all amendments) is applicable to this document.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Control area
controlledarea An area specially demarcated in a radiation workplace for the convenience of radiation protection management and occupational exposure control.
Special safeguards and safety measures are required or may be required in such areas in order to.
a) Control normal exposure or prevent the spread of contamination under normal working conditions;
b) prevent or limit the extent of potential exposures.
3.2 Supervised area
Any area not identified as a controlled area, but for which occupational exposure conditions are to be continuously checked.
Note: It is usually not necessary to take special protective measures and safety measures, but it is necessary to monitor and evaluate the occupational exposure conditions frequently.
3.3
Radioactive substances carried by air or other gaseous media.
Note: Usually a general term for radioactive aerosols and radioactive gases and vapors.
3.4 When
the doors and windows are normally closed, the ability to prevent the air from the lower pressure area from penetrating into the higher pressure area.
