Scope
GB/T 42226-2022 is the English-translated version of 黑糯玉米.
GB/T 42226-2022 is the Chinese quality standard for black waxy maize.
Clause 1 states that it specifies the quality requirements, inspection methods, inspection rules, labelling, packaging, storage and transport of black waxy maize, and that it applies to the grain as purchased, stored, processed, transported and sold but not to fresh black waxy maize.
Clause 4 grades it by amylose index, with the quality indexes given in Table 1; the definition taken from GB 1353-2018 covers waxy maize whose grain is naturally black or blue - purple, blue, purple-black or purple-red - with a note that black and blue grains are not less than 95%.
Among the methods it quotes are GB/T 5498 for bulk density, GB/T 10362 for maize moisture and NY/T 55 for amylose. Issued on 30 December 2022, it has applied since 1 July 2023.

1 Scope
This document specifies the quality requirements, inspection methods, inspection rules, labeling, packaging, storage and transportation of black waxy corn.
This document applies to black waxy corn purchased, stored, processed, transported and sold, not to fresh black waxy corn.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions defined in GB 1353-2018 apply to this document.
3.1 black waxy corn
The natural color of the grain is black and blue (purple, blue, purple black, purple red) waxy corn.
Note: The black and blue grains are not less than 95%.
4 Quality requirements
Black waxy corn is graded by amylose index, and the grade index and other quality indexes of black waxy corn are shown in Table 1.
