Scope

GB/T 42190-2022 is the English-translated version of 卫星遥感监测技术导则 霾.

GB/T 42190-2022 is the Chinese technical guideline for monitoring haze by satellite remote sensing.

It sets the requirements for the monitoring data, split into satellite and meteorological data, and describes how the haze area and its intensity level are identified, working from quantities it defines: the extinction coefficient, the aerosol extinction coefficient, aerosol optical depth as the sum of aerosol extinction coefficients along the vertical path from the ground to the top of the atmosphere, and apparent reflectance.

Normative annexes give the air molecule Rayleigh scattering contribution, a colour space conversion method, the pixel area formula for an equal latitude-longitude projection and the near-ground aerosol extinction coefficient; an informative annex lists the spectral channels of common sensors.

It applies to monitoring and assessing haze under clear sky conditions. Issued on 30 December 2022, it has applied since 1 April 2023.

Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules for Standardization Documents" drafting.

1 Scope

This document specifies the requirements for satellite remote sensing haze monitoring data, and describes the technical methods for haze area identification and haze intensity level identification.

This document is applicable to the monitoring and assessment of haze under clear sky conditions using satellite remote sensing technology.

2 Normative references

The contents of the following documents constitute the essential provisions of this document through normative references in the text. Among them, dated references For documents, only the version corresponding to the date is applicable to this document; for undated reference documents, the latest version (including all amendments) is applicable to this document.

3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 36542 and GB/T 36299 apply to this document.

3.1 extinction coefficient

A physical quantity that characterizes the degree to which a medium attenuates electromagnetic waves.

Note: It is equal to the relative value of the attenuation of the intensity of the electromagnetic wave due to absorption and scattering when it propagates a unit distance in the medium, and the common unit is negative one square meter (m-1), minus one kilometer (km-1). [Source: GB/T 37467-2019, 3.1.7.6, modified]

3.2 aerosol extinction coefficient

It is a physical quantity that characterizes the attenuation degree of radiant energy caused by atmospheric aerosol per unit distance.

Note: The value is equal to the sum of the aerosol scattering coefficient and absorption coefficient, and the commonly used units are minus one square meter (m-1), minus one square kilometer (km-1). [Source: GB/T 31159-2014, 4.10, modified]

3.3 aerosol optical depth

The sum of the aerosol extinction coefficients (3.2) along the vertical path from the ground to the upper boundary of the atmosphere.

Note: Dimension is 1. [Source: GB/T 31159-2014, 4.12, modified]

3.4 Apparent reflectance

The ratio of the upgoing shortwave radiation flux at the top of the atmosphere to the incoming solar radiation flux.

4 Monitoring data

4.1 Data classification

Haze monitoring data are divided into satellite data and meteorological data, one or more of the following data should be selected.
