Scope
GB/T 41199-2021 is the English-translated version of 木牙签.
GB/T 41199-2021 is the Chinese national standard for wooden toothpicks, the sticks made from wood for picking teeth. It covers their classification and structure, the requirements they must meet, the inspection methods and rules, and marking, packaging, transport and storage.
The standard names the tip defects that are assessed, including the slender little tip, the barbed tip, the obtuse tip thicker than the specified diameter, the split tip and the aris tip, as well as cracks along the grain.
It relies on GB/T 1931 for wood moisture content, GB/T 2828.1 for lot-by-lot sampling and GB/T 6491 for drying quality. Toothpick makers and inspection bodies use it for production and acceptance. It was issued on 31 December 2021 and has applied since 1 July 2022.
