1 Scope

GB/T 47057-2026 is the Chinese national standard covering the bamboo drinking straw - a replacement for the plastic one, specified on dimensions and wall integrity, on strength when wet, on the absence of splinters and of migrating substances, and on its microbiological state. First edition. It was issued on 28 January 2026 and has been in force since 1 August 2026, as a first edition. The document is under the responsibility of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration. This document defines the terminology and definitions for bamboo drinking straws, and specifies the product types, appearance, dimensions, physical and mechanical properties, and inspection rules. Requirements for packaging and labeling, and descriptions of inspection methods. This document applies to the production, sale, and inspection of drilled bamboo straws and spiral bamboo straws made primarily from bamboo.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 bamboo drinking straw Hollow tubular products made primarily of bamboo for use in beverages and liquid foods.

3.2 Drilled bamboo straw (driledbamboostraw) Bamboo drinking straws are made from bamboo strips through a drilling process.

3.3 Coiledbamboostraw bamboo straw Bamboo drinking straws are made primarily from thin bamboo sheets through a rolling process.

3.4 flat-endstraw bamboo straw Flat-mouth bamboo straw A bamboo drinking straw with both ends perpendicular to its length.
