1 Scope
This document specifies limits and test methods for hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) in thermal insulation articles.
This document applies to the determination of hexabromocyclododecane in thermal insulation products such as molded polystyrene foam and extruded polystyrene foam. Other materials can refer to the implementation.

3 Terms and Definitions
GB/T 4132 and the following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Hexabromocyclododecanes; HBCD
Molecular formula is C12H18Br6, relative molecular mass is 642, white crystal, bromine content is 74.7%, mainly used as polystyrene and other organic flame retardant material.
Note: It usually contains three isomers of alpha, beta and gamma, see Figure 1.
3.2 Sample spiked recovery
Take two copies of the same sample, one of which is added with the quantitative standard substance of the component to be tested;
Subtract the result obtained from the standard part minus the result obtained by the unspiked part, and the difference is the percentage of the theoretical value added to the standard material.
