Scope

GB/T 40779-2021 is the English-translated version of 信息技术 系统间远程通信和信息交换 应用于城市路灯接入的低压电力线通信协议.

GB/T 40779-2021 defines the narrowband low-voltage power line communication protocol used to connect urban street lights, where data is modulated onto a carrier and sent over the 220 V/380 V supply lines themselves.

It specifies the protocol stack in three layers: the application support layer, with its protocol frame, data transmission and network management commands; the data link layer, with the logical link control and media access control sublayers; and the physical layer, covering coding and modulation, frame format, subcarriers, channel coding, OFDM modulation, signal transmission modes and physical layer services.

It also lists the abbreviations used and refers to GB/T 31983.31-2017 for the narrowband OFDM physical layer. It applies to applications that communicate with street lights over low-voltage supply lines. It was issued on 11 October 2021 and has applied since 1 May 2022.
