3.1 Terms related to sustainable development, resilience and wisdom

3.1.1

Sustainability

In the fields of global ecology, society or economy, it is a special requirement that satisfies the needs of the present without harming the interests of future generations.

Note 1.The interaction and interdependence of the three aspects of environment, society and economy are usually the three dimensions of sustainability.

Note 2.Sustainability is the goal of sustainable development.

Sustainabledevelopment

Development that can meet the needs of the present without harming the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

Resilience

The organization's ability to adapt in a complex and changeable environment.

Note 1.The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) believes that resilience is a system and its components, which can respond to a dangerous event in a timely and effective manner.

The ability to predict, absorb, adapt or restore its influence, including by ensuring that its basic structure and function are maintained, restored or improved.

Note 2.Resilience is the ability of an organization to resist the impact of an event, or return to acceptable performance within an acceptable time after being affected by an event

Level of ability.

Note 3.Resilience is the ability of a system to maintain its function and structure in the face of internal and external changes, and the ability to degrade smoothly when necessary.
