GB/T 40749-2021 is the English-translated version of 海水重力式网箱设计技术规范.
GB/T 40749-2021 is the Chinese national specification for designing seawater gravity cages used in marine fish farming. It covers terms and definitions, the investigation of the hydrological environment at the site, general design rules and the design of the floating frame system, the netting system and the mooring system.
It applies to cages that float on the surface with a frame of high-density polyethylene pipe or galvanized steel pipe, for polyethylene frames in water less than 20 m deep with a circumference below 120 m and for galvanized steel frames with a circumference below 60 m.
Other sea cages of the same type may be designed with reference to it. Cage designers, builders and aquaculture operators use it. It was issued on 11 October 2021 and has applied since 1 May 2022.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions of seawater gravity cages, hydrological environment investigation, general design rules, floating rack system design, net clothing system design Design requirements for the design and mooring system.
This standard applies to the structure of seawater gravity cages made of high-density polyethylene pipes or galvanized steel pipes as a frame and floating on the water surface Design, suitable for polyethylene pipe frame cages with sea depth less than 20m and circumference less than 120m or galvanized steel pipes with circumference less than 60m Frame cage. The design of other sea cages of the same type can be implemented by reference.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions defined in GB 50009 and GB 50153 apply to this document. For ease of use, the following is repeated Some terms and definitions of GB 50009 and GB 50153.
3.1 Netting system
It is composed of a net piece, a net wire, a steel cable and a sinker, and is used to maintain a gravity-type net cage facility structure for the breeding space.
3.2 Floating system
A floating frame structure composed of a frame or a frame plus a pontoon, which is used to maintain the shape of the cage and suspend the cage in the water.
