GB/T 40709-2021 is the English-translated version of 耙吸挖泥船波浪补偿器技术要求.
GB/T 40709-2021 sets out the technical requirements for the swell compensator of a trailing suction hopper dredger, the hydraulic tensioning device on the drag head hoisting wire rope that lets the dredger keep working in waves and over an uneven seabed.

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the composition of the trailing suction dredger wave compensator and the technical requirements for hydraulic cylinders, accumulators, pulleys, and safety devices.
This standard is applicable to the wave compensator of trailing suction dredger, and the wave compensator of other ship types can be used as a reference.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Trailing suction dredger wave compensator
The hydraulic tensioning device for the drag head hoisting wire rope to ensure that the dredger can operate on waves and uneven seabed.
3.2 Accumulator
A device that stores and releases energy in the hydro-pneumatic system of the trailing suction dredger wave compensator through the change of gas volume.
4 Composition
The trailing suction dredger wave compensator (hereinafter referred to as the "wave compensator") is composed of hydraulic cylinders, accumulators, pulleys, wire ropes, etc., and its composition is shown Opinion Figure 1.
