Scope
GB/T 40465-2021 is the English-translated version of 畜禽肉追溯要求.
GB/T 40465-2021 sets out what a traceability system for livestock and poultry meat has to achieve and how it is run. It covers the objectives of the system, its requirements, its implementation, and the way it is evaluated and improved.

The standard builds on the traceability terminology of GB/T 38155 and defines terms such as product batch, batch code, traceable unit and traceability precision, the smallest traceable unit in the system.
It applies to building traceability systems for meat in production, storage and delivery. It was issued on 20 August 2021 and has applied since 1 March 2022.

1 Scope
This document specifies the objectives, requirements, implementation, evaluation and improvement requirements of the livestock and poultry meat traceability system.
This document is applicable to the construction of the traceability system of livestock and poultry meat in production, storage and delivery.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions defined in GB/T 38155 apply to this document.
3.1 Livestock and poultry meat
Live livestock and poultry (pigs, cattle, sheep, rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, etc.) are slaughtered, divided or undivided to obtain livestock and poultry carcasses, divided products and edible side products product.
3.2 Product batch
