GB/T 39910-2021 is the English-translated version of 标准文献分类规则.
GB/T 39910-2021 sets how standards documents themselves are classified in China. It fixes the basis of the classification, the steps to follow when classifying a document and the rules that decide where a document goes when it could belong to more than one class.
It applies to the classification of standard literature - national, industry, local and association standards and the foreign standards held alongside them - and is used by the libraries, information centres and databases that have to shelve and retrieve them consistently. Issued on 9 March 2021, it has applied since 1 October 2021.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the basis for the classification of standard documents, the classification steps and the classification rules.
This standard applies to the classification of standard documents.

The following documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated reference documents, only the dated version applies to this document. For undated reference documents, the latest version (including all amendments) is applicable to this document.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Generalstandards
Applicable to basic standards, method standards, environmental protection, safety and health that are common to different professions or between different categories in the same profession Standards and common parts, general equipment, general machinery and other standards.
3.2 Specializedstandards
Relative to a profession, it has a special purpose, and there are special categories or standards within the scope of a category in the classification law.
3.3 Themeobject
The objects involved and regulated by the subject content of standard documents are generally standard standardized objects.
3.4 Core subject
Among the various concepts that constitute the subject of the standard document, the core concept that most essentially reflects the subject content of the standard document.
3.5 Themefacet
Standard documents with complex topics reflect the characteristic aspects of a certain aspect of the concept or attribute of the standardized object.
3.6 Standardstype
The standard category formed by standardizing a certain aspect of the standardization object.
Note: Such as terminology standards, product standards, inspection standards, etc.
3.7 Faceted class
In the standard classification method, the quasi-superior category is set up to logically divide the lower-level classification.
