GB/T 39464-2020 specifies the basic principles and the classification and naming methods for the classification and naming of footwear products in cross-border e-commerce transactions, and gives the classification and naming of footwear products in 7 languages, Chinese, English, French, Spanish, Korean, Arabic and Russian.

Clause 1 states that it applies to the classification and naming of footwear products, referred to as 'shoes' in the text, and to the release and management of product information in cross-border e-commerce transactions.

Its five clauses are Scope; Normative references; Terms and definitions; Basic principles of classification and naming; and Classification and naming methods, followed by Appendix A, an informative multi-language classification and naming comparison table, Appendix B, informative examples of multilingual classification and naming by function, Appendix C, informative information description attributes of multilingual footwear trading products, and a list of references.

Clause 3 repeats two terms from GB/T 35408-2017: e-commerce, the business activities of product and service transactions through the information network, and cross-border e-commerce, e-commerce for product import and export through an e-commerce platform.

Clause 4 sets three principles: classification should fully consider the compatibility and scalability of the domestic footwear industry and of international trade; naming should be combined with the practice of the country's footwear industry and the query habits of cross-border e-commerce shoe trade, and the product name used in naming should be consistent with standards such as GB/T 2703 and QB/T 2673; and the classification and naming of special products can be carried out as required.

Clause 2 cites GB/T 2703, GB/T 35408-2017 and QB/T 2673.
