Scope

GB/T 39402-2020 is the English-translated version of 面向人机协作的工业机器人设计规范.

GB/T 39402-2020 is the design specification for industrial robots intended to work alongside people.

Clause 1 states that the standard specifies the terms and definitions, the design principles and design requirements, the information for use, and the verification and validation methods, and that it applies to the design and development of industrial robots for human-machine collaboration.

The contents list names clause 4 Design principles, split into a general subclause and one on hazard identification and risk assessment, and clause 5 Design requirements, which is the longest clause and runs through general requirements, mechanical design, the human-machine interaction interface, external interface design, requirements for collaborative operation, the performance of safety-related control systems, safety-related parts and robot safety functions.

Clause 6 covers the information for use and clause 7 the verification and validation, with its methods and requirements, while a normative Appendix A gives the verification methods for the safety requirements and measures.

The introduction explains the reasoning: people handle work that needs less precision but some flexibility while machines handle work needing high accuracy, force and load capacity, and because traditional robot applications are generally equipped with protective devices to keep operators from injury, manual intervention or cooperation is hard to arrange; a collaborative industrial robot keeps the performance of a robot while being able to work in coordination with a person, which widens the field of application and raises productivity.

The same introduction states who the standard is for, namely the manufacturers and integrators that build and use industrial robots with human-machine cooperative operation functions.

Clause 3 takes its terms from GB/T 15706-2012 and GB 11291.1-2011 and repeats several, among them hazard as a potential source of harm, risk as the combination of the probability and the severity of injury, and risk assessment as the whole process of risk analysis and risk evaluation.

The cited documents include GB 11291.1-2011 and GB 11291.2-2013 on robot and robot system safety, GB/T 36008-2018 on collaborative robots, GB/T 15706-2012 on risk assessment and risk reduction, GB/T 16855.1-2018 on safety-related parts of control systems, GB/T 20438.1-2017 on functional safety, GB/T 16754-2008 on emergency stop and GB/T 5226.1-2019 on the electrical equipment of machines.

The standard was proposed by the China Machinery Industry Federation, falls under the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Automation Systems and Integration (SAC/TC159), was issued on 19 November 2020 and has applied since 1 June 2021.

Foreword

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

Introduction

In industrial production, humans are good at solving problems that require less precision but a certain degree of flexibility, while machines are suitable for solving Work with high accuracy, high strength and high bearing capacity. In order to ensure sufficient safety, in traditional robot applications, generally Equipped with protective devices to prevent injury to operators. Therefore, in this environment, it is difficult to use the machine for manual intervention or cooperation.

Robot system to complete. The industrial robot for human-machine collaboration not only has the performance characteristics of robots, but also can operate in coordination with humans.

It can greatly expand the application fields of robots and improve production efficiency. This standard provides an industrial robot design for human-machine collaboration Specifications provide a standard basis for manufacturers and integrators to manufacture and use industrial robots with man-machine cooperative operation functions.
