3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Shale
A fine-grained sedimentary rock with sheet or sheet bedding and a particle size of less than 0.0625 mm.
3.2 Shale oil
Occurs in organic-rich shale formations. Single layer of siltstone, fine sandstone, carbonate rock in source rocks rich in organic shale
