GB/T 37223-2018 is the English-translated version of 亲权鉴定技术规范.
GB/T 37223-2018 is the Chinese national technical specification for parentage testing by forensic DNA analysis. It sets the basic requirements and the inspection procedure: sampling, DNA extraction and purification, quantitative analysis, PCR amplification and typing of the products.
It explains how to calculate the parentage index for trios and for duos, with formulas and examples for autosomal STR loci that do or do not follow Mendel's law of inheritance, and annexes on exclusion probability and the cumulative parentage index.
It also covers the identification opinion and the report, and refers to GA/T 383 for DNA laboratory testing. It applies to institutions carrying out trio or duo parentage testing. It was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since 1 April 2019.

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
1 Scope
This standard stipulates the basic requirements for parental appraisal, inspection procedures, calculation of parental rights index, appraisal opinions and identification documents.
This standard applies to parental appraisal institutions to carry out triad parental appraisal or dual pro-authority appraisal.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Parentage testing
Through the detection of human genetic markers, according to the analysis of genetic laws, the activities of judging the blood relationship between individuals.
3.2 Parentage testing of trios
Parental identification of the tested man, child mother and child or the tested woman, child father and child.
3.3 Parentage testing of duos
Parental identification of the tested man and child or the tested woman and child.
3.4 Genetic marker
DNA fragments, gene products, and hereditary traits that are heritable and recognizable.
3.5 Power of exclusion; PE
A random individual who is not a child's father or mother, and is able to be genetically marked to rule out the kinship.
3.6 Parentage index; PI
The likelihood ratio of the two conditional probabilities required to determine the parental relationship.
Note: PI calculation is based on the following.
Probability (detection of the party's genetic phenotype | assuming the subject being tested is the child's biological father or mother)
Probability (detection of the party's genetic phenotype | assuming a random individual is the child's biological father or mother)
