GB/T 37059-2018 is the English-translated version of 集装箱电子箱封编码与标识规范.

GB/T 37059-2018 sets the rules for coding and marking electronic seals (eSeals) on freight containers, the read-only, single-use seals that meet ISO 17712 and ISO 18185 and give electronic evidence of tampering with the container door.

It specifies the coding principles, the structure of the eSeal code, with a normative code table and an example of how the check digit is verified, and the requirements for the marking printed on the outside of the seal, including two-dimensional bar codes such as QR code, Han Xin code and Data Matrix.

An informative annex shows an example of the external label. It applies to the identification and use of container eSeal codes. It was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since 1 July 2019.
