GB/T 37055.1-2018 is the first part of the Chinese national article numbering and basic information specification for means of production, and it covers steel products for construction.
It sets out how a construction steel code is built from three parts: a classification code, a reference name code and an attribute code.
It then gives the classification codes, the reference name codes and the attribute codes, the requirements for using the codes, how the codes are managed and maintained, and the basic information to be recorded for construction steel, with a normative annex of value codes.
It can be used as a reference when construction steel is processed and exchanged in economic activity and when steel information management systems for construction are set up. It was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since 1 July 2019.

Foreword
GB/T 37055 "National Article Numbering and Basic Information Specification Production Materials" is divided into the following four parts.
---Part 1. Steel for construction;

This part is the first part of GB/T 37055.
This part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 37055 specifies the composition and classification of the steel code for construction in the production data section of the national article coding system. Code, reference name encoding, attribute encoding, encoding usage requirements, encoding management and maintenance, and the content of the underlying information.
This section applies to the processing and exchange of steel materials for construction in the process of economic activities, the establishment of steel information management system for construction and Information exchange can be used as reference.

3 Terms and definitions

3.1 Line classification method
The classified objects are successively divided into several levels according to selected attributes (or features), and each level is further divided into several categories.
