Scope

GB/T 36965-2018 is the English-translated version of 光伏组件用乙烯—醋酸乙烯共聚物交联度测试方法 差示扫描量热法.

GB/T 36965-2018 sets out how to measure the degree of cross-linking of the ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer used to encapsulate photovoltaic modules by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).

It covers the principle of the method, which measures the heat flow rate difference between the sample and a reference under controlled atmosphere and temperature programme, with either power-compensation or heat-flow instruments.

It also specifies the instruments and materials, the test environment, sample preparation, instrument calibration, the test procedure, data processing and the test report, and defines cross-linking degree, enthalpy and baseline.

It is intended for module manufacturers and testing laboratories checking EVA cure. It was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since 1 April 2019.

Foreword

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

1 Scope

This standard specifies the use of differential scanning calorimetry (hereinafter referred to as DSC) to measure ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer for photovoltaic modules (hereinafter referred to as EVA) method of cross-linking, including terms and definitions, method principles, instruments and materials, test environment, sample preparation, instrument calibration, test procedures Sequence, data processing and test reports.

This standard applies to the test of EVA cross-linking degree for photovoltaic modules.

2 Normative references

The following documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only dated versions apply to this document. For undated references, the latest edition (including all amendments) applies to this document.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions as defined in GB/T 2297 and GB/T 19466.1-2004 apply to this document.

3.1 Cross-linking degree

A physical quantity used to characterize the degree of crosslinking of a high molecular polymer.

3.2 Heat enthalpy value

The amount of heat that a substance absorbs or releases due to chemical, physical, or temperature changes under constant pressure.

Note: The unit of thermal enthalpy is joules per kilogram (J/kg) or joules per gram (J/g).

3.3 Baseline

A portion of the DSC curve that is outside the reaction or transition region but is adjacent to the region.

Note: In this section, the heat flow rate (thermal power) difference is nearly constant.

4 Principle of the method

Measuring the difference in heat flow rate between the sample and the reference sample as a function of temperature and/or time under controlled atmosphere and programmed temperature control relationship.

Note: The test can be carried out using two types of DSC instruments, power compensation type and heat flow type. The design of the measuring instruments used in the two methods is as follows.

a) Power compensated DSC. keep the temperature of the sample and the reference sample the same. When the temperature of the sample changes, the measurement is input between the sample and the reference sample. The difference in heat flow rate with temperature or time;

b) Heat flow type DSC. When changing the temperature of the sample according to the control program, measure the heat flow rate difference caused by the temperature difference between the sample and the reference sample
