Scope

GB/T 36899-2018 is the English-translated version of 荧光增白剂 泛黄点的测定.

GB/T 36899-2018 gives the method for determining the yellowing point of fluorescent whitening agents used on cotton, nylon and paper. The principle is that as the dyeing depth of the whitening agent rises, the whiteness of the substrate stops increasing past a certain value, and the depth that gives the highest whiteness is the yellowing point.

Reagents, materials, instruments and general dyeing conditions follow GB/T 2374-2017, with a whiteness meter meeting GB/T 9338-2008 and an analytical balance with 0.0001 g sensitivity.

Dyeing depth is expressed in % (owf) for dip dyeing and in g/L for the other dyeing method, depending on the substrate. Dye manufacturers and testing laboratories use it to characterise whitening agents. It was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since 1 November 2019.

Foreword

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

1 Scope

This standard specifies the method for determining the yellowing point of fluorescent whitening agents.

This standard is applicable to the determination of yellowing point of fluorescent whitening agent for cotton, nylon and paper.

2 Normative references

The following documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only dated versions apply to this document. For undated references, the latest edition (including all amendments) applies to this document.

GB/T 2374-2017 General conditions for the determination of dyes

GB/T 9338-2008 Determination of relative whiteness of fluorescent whitening agents (ISO 105-J02..1997, MOD)

3 Principle

Fluorescent whitening agent dyes the substrate (cotton, nylon, paper) at a certain depth, when the fluorescent whitening agent reaches a certain depth After the value, the whiteness value of the matrix no longer increases with the increase of the dyeing depth, and the dyeing depth of the fluorescent whitening agent corresponding to the highest whiteness value is Yellowing point.

4 Reagents and materials

Reagents and materials should comply with the relevant provisions of Chapter 3 of GB/T 2374-2017.

5 Instruments and equipment

Instruments and equipment shall comply with the relevant provisions of Chapter 4 of GB/T 2374-2017.

5.1 Whiteness meter. Meet the requirements of GB/T 9338-2008.

5.2 Analytical balance. Sensitivity 0.0001g.

6 Test methods

6.1 General conditions for dyeing

General conditions for dyeing should comply with the relevant provisions of GB/T 2374-2017.

6.2 Dyeing depth

According to the fluorescent whitening agent, the dyeing (whitening) method is different for different substrates, and the dyeing depth has the following two representations.

a) Dip dyeing depth is expressed in % (owf);

b) Dyeing dyeing depth is expressed in g/L.
