1 Scope

GB/T 47088-2026 is the Chinese national standard covering hexavalent chromium in dyes - a carcinogen restricted in textiles and leather, which arrives with chromium-containing dye intermediates and mordants and has to be measured in the dye before it reaches the fabric. First edition. It was issued on 28 January 2026 and has been in force since 1 August 2026, as a first edition. This document specifies a high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method for determining extractable hexavalent chromium in dye products. This document applies to the determination of extractable hexavalent chromium content in various categories of dye products.

4.Method Principles Extractable hexavalent chromium in the dye sample was extracted using phosphate buffer, and the extract was purified using solid-phase extraction (C18 SPE column). Hexavalent oxygen in the extract was determined using a high-performance liquid chromatograph equipped with a UV-Vis (UV-VIS) or diode array (DAD) detector. Chromium was quantified using the external standard method based on peak area.

5 Reagents and Materials

5.1 General provisions. Unless otherwise specified, use only reagents that have been confirmed to be of analytical grade and Grade III water as specified in GB/T 6682-2008.
