Scope
GB/T 36418-2018 is the English-translated version of 絮用纤维制品有机挥发性物质的测定.
GB/T 36418-2018 sets out a laboratory method for measuring the volatile organic compounds released by products filled with fibre materials.
The sample is heated in a headspace sampler, the released compounds are adsorbed by solid-phase microextraction on a Carboxen/PDMS fibre, then thermally desorbed and identified and quantified by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.
The method determines total volatile organic compounds and total aromatic hydrocarbons, both defined by their retention between n-hexane and n-hexadecane, as well as vinyl chloride, 1,3-butadiene, toluene, vinylcyclohexene, styrene and 4-phenylcyclohexene.
It covers the principle, reagents and materials, and draws its definitions from GB 18383 on filled fibre products. Testing laboratories use it to check the emissions of such products. It was issued on 7 June 2018 and has applied since 1 January 2019.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the use of headspace sampler (HS) solid phase microextraction (SPME)-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) method for the determination of flocculated fiber Method for determination of the content of organic volatile substances in finished products.

3.1 Total organic volatiles

4 Principle
A certain volume of the fiber product is placed in a headspace sampler (HS) at a certain temperature to release the organic volatiles in the sample.
In the gas phase, adsorbed by solid phase microextraction (SPME) to achieve adsorption equilibrium, and then subjected to thermal desorption followed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) The method is qualitative and quantitative.
