1 Scope

China's national standard for the care graphical symbols used on hair products. The products in question are wigs, hairpieces and hair extensions, and the symbols do for them what the familiar washing symbols do for garments: convey washing, drying, heat and styling instructions in a form that survives translation. The need is specific to the material. Human hair, heat-resistant synthetic fibre and ordinary synthetic fibre look similar and behave completely differently: human hair takes a curling iron and colouring, heat-resistant fibre takes a limited temperature, and ordinary synthetic fibre melts at the temperature of a hair dryer. A customer who treats one as another destroys the product irreversibly and, more seriously, may not realise it is possible. China manufactures the overwhelming majority of the world's hair products, so a symbol set standardised here is effectively the international one.

This document establishes the symbol system used in hair product labeling and describes the use of these symbols in hair product labeling. method. This document applies to the design of logos and labels for hair product maintenance graphic symbols.
