Scope
GB/T 36385-2018 is the English-translated version of 感光材料冲洗行业废液处理处置方法.
GB/T 36385-2018 deals with the developing waste liquid of photosensitive materials, meaning the waste water and liquids produced during development, bleaching and fixing.
It defines this waste liquid, describes its types and sets out treatment and disposal methods and environmental protection requirements.
The types described include waste developer, whose main components are methylaminophenol and hydroquinone in black-and-white developer and p-phenylenediamine derivatives in colour developer, waste fixer, which carries silver mainly as a thiosulfate complex, and waste bleach.
Its normative references include the integrated wastewater and air pollutant emission standards GB 8978 and GB 16297 and the GB/T 11067 methods for determining silver.
It applies to the treatment and disposal of the waste liquids produced in the photographic material processing industry. It was issued on 7 June 2018 and has applied since 1 January 2019.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, composition types, treatment methods and environmental protection of waste liquid in the photographic material processing industry.
This standard is applicable to the treatment and disposal of waste liquid of photosensitive materials produced in the processes of development, bleaching and fixing.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Photosensitive material washing waste liquid
Waste water and waste liquid generated by the photographic material during development, bleaching, fixing, etc.
4 Photographic materials washing industry waste liquid types
4.1 Waste developer
Waste developer includes waste developer, protectant, accelerator, fog inhibitor, and other special additives. The main component is waste Discarded developer, wherein the main component of the black and white developer is methylamine phenol and hydroquinone; the main component of the color developing agent is p-phenylenediamine derivative. Chemical oxygen demand (CODCr) concentration. 6 x 10^3 mg/L ~ 6 x 10^4 mg/L.
4.2 Waste Fixer
After the photosensitive material is exposed and developed, the waste liquid generated in the process of removing the unexposed undeveloped silver halide from the emulsion by the fixing solution. Waste The main component of the fixing solution is a discarded fixer, as well as a waste of a protective agent, a neutralizing agent, and a hardener. Silver (Ag) concentration. 1000mg/L~ 12000mg/L (mainly in the form of silver thiosulfate complex, followed by ferrous iron diamine tetraacetate), chemical oxygen demand concentration. 5 x 10^4 mg/L ~ 9 x 10^4 mg/L.
4.3 Waste bleach
The coloring material is oxidized during the process of oxidizing the metal silver in the emulsion to convert the metal silver into silver ions, and by means of halogen a compound (usually potassium bromide or ammonium bromide) that is re-halogenated to silver bromide, converted to a soluble silver complex, and removed from the emulsion.
