Scope

GB/T 36321-2018 is the English-translated version of 特种机器人 分类、符号、标志.

China's national standard for classifying special robots and for the symbols and model codes used to designate them. It specifies the terms and definitions, the categories, the symbols, the product model code rules and the marking, with an informative annex of worked model examples. It is the companion to the special robot vocabulary, and it does the more practical half of the job. A classification puts the field's very disparate machines - firefighting, rescue, underwater, explosive disposal, inspection, agricultural, military - into a structure, which is what a procurement catalogue, a regulator and a statistical office all need. The model code rule is what turns that structure into something usable on a nameplate: an encoding that says what kind of robot this is, what it is for and what its principal parameter is, in a form that can be read without reference to the manufacturer's brochure. For a category defined by its diversity, that is more valuable than it would be in a settled industry.

3.1 Special robot specialrobot;professionalservicerobot A robot that is used in a professional field and is generally operated or used by specially trained personnel to assist and/or replace a person performing a task.
