1 Scope

This standard specifies the technical requirements and observation methods for ground temperature observations in surface meteorological observations.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions as defined in GB/T 35221 and GB/T 35226 apply to this document.

3.1 Soil temperature

Underlying surface temperature and soil temperature at different depths.

3.2 Surface temperature

The temperature of the bare soil surface exposed directly to the sky.

Note. It is 0cm ground temperature.

3.3 Shallow ground temperature

Soil temperature at a depth of 0 cm to 40 cm (excluding 0 cm and 40 cm) above the ground.

3.4 Deep ground temperature

Soil temperature at a depth of 40 cm below the ground.

3.5 Grass surface

The temperature is directly exposed to the sky and above the grass surface.

3.6 Snow surface temperature

The temperature directly exposed to the sky and above the snow surface.
