Scope

GB/T 35025-2018 is the English-translated version of 羊驼毛.

GB/T 35025-2018 covers alpaca fibre, the hair grown on the alpaca. It defines the fibre and its grades by mean fibre diameter, from superfine alpaca at 20.0 µm or less through fine and medium alpaca to strong alpaca at 30.1 µm and above.

It then sets the product characteristics, the technical requirements for grading, the inspection methods and the rules for packing, marking, storage and transport.

The test methods draw on the national methods for staple length, fibre diameter by projection microscope and other techniques, fibre type and colour. The standard is used in the production, grading, processing, trading and inspection of alpaca fibre. It was issued on 14 May 2018 and has applied since 1 December 2018.

3.1 Alpaca

Hair fibers that grow on alpaca.

3.2 Superfine alpaca

Alpaca having an average fiber diameter of less than or equal to 20.0 µm.

3.3 Fine alpaca

Alpaca having an average fiber diameter greater than or equal to 20.1 µm and less than or equal to 25.0 µm.

3.4 Middle alpaca

Alpaca having an average fiber diameter greater than or equal to 25.1 µm and less than or equal to 30.0 µm.

3.5 Coarse alpaca

Alpaca with an average fiber diameter greater than or equal to 30.1 µm.
