Scope

GB/T 34798-2017 is the English-translated version of 核酸数据库序列格式规范.

GB/T 34798-2017 fixes the format in which nucleotide sequence databases are written.

Clause 1 states that the standard specifies the sequence format of the nucleic acid database, including the general rules for specifying the characteristics of the nucleic acid sequence of the genome of an organism, the sequence description format specification, the sequence feature description specification and the sequence format specification, and that it applies to the preparation of biological genomic nucleic acid sequence files; no exclusions are given.

The document runs to nine clauses: scope, normative references, terms and definitions, abbreviations, a general clause on the nucleic acid sequence format specification whose index title the draft prints incompletely, the nucleic acid sequence description specification, the nucleic acid sequence characterization specification, the nucleic acid sequence format specification and the overall format specification of the nucleic acid sequence file.

Clause 3 takes the definitions of GB/T 29859 and adds seven of its own: the nucleic acid database, the coding sequence, sequence assembly, methylation, the identifier, the location and the feature qualifier.

Seven informative annexes follow, giving a nucleotide meaning table, a table of key words for nucleic acid related features, a codon table, a modified base table, a Chinese and English comparison table of qualifiers, an example nucleic acid sequence file and a table of the meanings of line capital letters; a bibliography closes the document.

Clause 2 cites GB/T 29859 and ZC0003. The page gives the standard as a recommended national standard under ICS 07.080 and Chinese classification A40, with an estimated 19,199 words, and derives it from National Standard Announcement 2017 No. 29. It was issued on 1 November 2017 and has applied since 1 May 2018.

Foreword

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

1 Scope

This standard specifies the sequence format of the nucleic acid database, including the general rules for the specification of the characteristics of the nucleic acid sequence of the genome of the organism, the sequence description Format specification, sequence feature description specification and sequence format specification.

This standard applies to the preparation of biological genomic nucleic acid sequence files.

2 Normative references

The following documents for the application of this document is essential. For dated references, only the dated version applies to this document. For undated references, the latest edition (including all amendments) applies to this document.

3 Terms and definitions

GB/T 29859 defined and the following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Nucleic acid database

Nucleic acid sequence as the basic content, and annotated nucleic acid sequence information database.

3.2 Coding sequence

The sequence encoding a protein product starts at the start codon and finally ends at the codon.

3.3 Sequence assembly

Short sequences of the genomic long sequence break down to form shorter sequences that, through the help of algorithms and computers, assemble these short sequences into A complete and ordered sequence of processes.

3.4 Methylation

An important modification of proteins and nucleic acids that regulate gene expression and shut down.

3.5 Identifier

Relatively unique code in a system.

3.6 Location

The relative coordinate position of one or more bases over another longer base.

3.7 Feature qualifier

The word used to further characterize a certain type of sequence.
