Scope

GB/T 34480-2023 is the English-translated version of 高强高韧型Al-Zn-Mg-Cu系铝合金锻件.

GB/T 34480-2023 covers high strength and high toughness Al-Zn-Mg-Cu aluminium alloy forgings: die forgings, free forgings and rolled rings.

It sets the product classification, the technical requirements, the test methods, the product qualification identification, the process control and the inspection rules, and what the marking, packaging, transport, storage, quality certificate and order form have to contain.

Table 1 fixes the grades 7050, 7055, 7175, 7085 and 7A85 with their supply states, their maximum heat-treatment thickness and their load-bearing class.

The requirements include room-temperature tensile properties, fracture toughness, electrical conductivity, stress corrosion resistance, exfoliation corrosion resistance, the ultrasonic inspection acceptance level, low-magnification structure and appearance quality.

It replaces GB/T 34480-2017, was issued on 7 September 2023 and has applied since 1 April 2024.
