3.1 Instructions for use

The instructions for use shall comply with GB 5296.4.

3.2 Size designation and specifications

3.2.1 The size designation shall be set in accordance with GB/T 1335.

3.2.2 The specifications of the principal parts of the finished garment shall be designed by the manufacturer in accordance with the relevant provisions of GB/T 1335.

3.3.1 Face fabric

A face fabric meeting the quality requirements of this standard shall be selected in accordance with the relevant national textile fabric standards.

3.3.2 Lining

A lining suited to the face fabric used and meeting the quality requirements of this standard shall be used.

3.3.3.1 Interlining, shoulder pads, lace and tape

Interlining and shoulder pads, lace and woven tape suited to the dimensional change, the performance and the colour of the face fabric used shall be employed, and their quality shall comply with the provisions of this standard.

3.3.3.2 Sewing thread

Sewing thread suited to the performance and colour of the face fabric and the trimmings shall be used, and the shrinkage of the embroidery thread shall be compatible with that of the face fabric.

3.3.3.3 Buttons, zips and accessories

Buttons, zips and other accessories suited to the face fabric used shall be employed. The surface of the buttons shall be smooth and undamaged; the accessories shall be free from residual defects, sharp points and sharp edges, and after washing and pressing shall not deform, change colour, stain or rust. Zips shall engage properly and run smoothly.

3.4 Warp and weft yarn direction

The permitted skew of the back body and the sleeves shall be not greater than 3 %; the bottom edge of the front body shall not curl. The permitted skew of the trousers shall be not greater than 3 %.

3.5 Matching of stripes and checks

3.5.1 Where the face fabric has distinct stripes, or checks of 1.0 cm and above, the matching shall comply with Table 1, in centimetres. Left and right front bodies: stripes straight, checks matched across, difference not greater than 0.3; where the checks differ in size, the upper half of the garment length governs. Pocket and front body: stripes matched, checks matched, difference not greater than 0.3; a bias-cut patch pocket shall be symmetrical left and right with a difference not greater than 0.5, except on shaded checks; where the checks differ in size, the pocket front governs. Collar point and lapel: stripes matched, difference not greater than 0.2; on shaded checks the distinct stripe or check governs. Sleeves: stripes straight, checks matched across, taken at the sleeve head, the two sleeves symmetrical, difference not greater than 0.5. Back seam: stripes matched, checks matched across, difference not greater than 0.3; where the checks differ in size, the upper back governs. Side seam: checks matched across, difference below the armhole not greater than 10.0, not greater than 0.4. Trouser side seam: matched across below the mid-thigh line, difference not greater than 0.5, the distinct stripe or check governing. Trouser front crease: stripes straight, permitted skew not greater than 0.5. Front and back crotch seams: checks symmetrical, checks matched across, difference not greater than 0.4. Note: special designs are not subject to this requirement.

3.5.2 The permitted skew of the stripe and check pattern shall be not greater than 3 %.

3.5.3 On directional pile (velvet) and shaded check fabrics the direction shall be consistent throughout the garment, except where the design requires otherwise.

3.5.4 On fabrics with a special pattern the main figure governs and the direction shall be consistent throughout the garment.

3.6 Piecing

3.6.1 Piecing of children's garments is as follows: a) collar stand - avoid the shoulder seam, two pieces joined once; a stand collar may not be pieced; b) coat facing - one join at a point below the lower third of the facing, avoiding the buttonhole position, two pieces joined once; c) sleeve - a single sleeve may be pieced at the corner, not more than a quarter of the sleeve circumference; d) waistband - permitted only at the seam behind the trouser crotch.

3.6.2 Decorative piecing is excluded.

3.7 Colour difference

The colour difference between the face fabric of the several parts, and the colour difference between the upper garment and the trousers or skirt of a suit, shall be not lower than grade 4. The colour difference between the collar, the lapel, the front shoulder yoke and the main body shall be higher than grade 4. The colour difference of the lining, and that caused by fused interlining or by multiple layers of fabric, shall be not lower than grade 3-4, except where the design requires otherwise.

3.8 Appearance defects

The permitted extent of defects in the several parts of the finished garment is specified in Table 2, and the division of the parts of the finished garment is shown in Figure 1. Only one defect is permitted in each individual part; defects not listed in this standard are dealt with by reference to similar defects in Table 2, according to their form.

Table 2, in centimetres, gives for each defect and degree the extent permitted in zone 1, zone 2 and zone 3. Linear defects: slight - not permitted in zone 1, up to 2.0 in zone 2, up to 3.0 in zone 3; distinct - not permitted in zones 1 and 2, up to 2.0 in zone 3. Streak defects: slight - not permitted in zone 1, permitted in zones 2 and 3; distinct - not permitted in zones 1 and 2, permitted in zone 3. Patch defects: slight - not permitted in zone 1, 0.5 and below in zone 2, 1.0 and below in zone 3; distinct - not permitted in zones 1 and 2, up to 0.5 in zone 3. Weft bars: slight - not permitted in zone 1, permitted in zone 2, two permitted in zone 3; distinct - not permitted in zones 1 and 2, permitted in zone 3. Press marks and creases: slight - not permitted in zone 1, 5.0 and below in zone 2, 10.0 and below in zone 3; distinct - not permitted in zones 1 and 2, 5.0 and below in zone 3. Oil, rust and colour spots: slight - not permitted in zone 1, 0.2 and below in zone 2, 0.3 and below in zone 3; distinct - not permitted in any zone.

Note 1: description of the degree of a defect - slight means the defect is not obvious to the eye and can be seen only on careful examination; distinct means the defect does not affect the overall effect but its presence is clearly perceptible.

Note 2: the permitted values for linear and streak defects and for patch defects in the table are the cumulative dimensions of defects of the same kind on the same product.

Note 3: special designs and decorative features are excluded.
